Service Description

Many cultures believe birth expels a great amount of Chi from the mother. Postpartum massage is geared towards restoring that Chi while addressing areas of tension that being a new mother has. The use of warming oils, heat, and abdominal massage may be used. Special consideration is made with positioning in regards to delivery method and breastfeeding comfort. I understand that a newborn doesn't always follow our schedule, so there is extra time allotted to attend to baby if needed. ***Here's what to know before your first postpartum massage with me:   The therapist will bring a table, sheets, jojoba oil, music, and essential oils. However, the therapist is happy to use any of those you provide if you would prefer. I can also provide a body cushion (upon request) with recesses for the breasts and belly to make lying face down more comfortable for new mothers. *Mother's who recently underwent a c-section will lay on their sides for at least the first six weeks after birth. Baby: Feel free to take a break during the session to feed or tend to baby. I understand, they call the shots! I will try and accommodate extra time for those situations. What you need: Some mothers feel more comfortable to leave their bra on to hold breast pads in place to prevent leaking. You may inform the therapist if it is ok to unhook the bra while they work on your back. Please leave a clutter free space for a massage table and room for the therapist to comfortably move around it (about the size of a person laying down and making a snow angel). A standard size chair may be necessary for the therapist to sit on during the massage. The therapist requires a place to wash hands before and after the appointment with soap and a clean towel or paper towel. Please expect the therapist to arrive within 15 minutes before or after the start time depending on location of previous client and traffic. Parking must be provided: parking sticker, reimbursement for meter or garage, etc. please let the therapist know if there are specific parking instructions. Payment: If you chose to pay in person, we are currently excepting Venmo (@TaraWilmoth) and Zelle (wellnesstara@gmail.com), which you may choose to pay before or directly after your appointment. If you wish, gratuity may be left through those payment methods as well.
